The mission of the Ag Foundation is building awareness, understanding, and a positive public perception of agriculture through education. The Ag Foundation creates resources for educators and volunteers that help learners of all ages understand where their food comes from and who grows it. With most consumers three to four generations removed from the farm, it is critical that we help them understand modern agricultural practices. The resources the Ag Foundation creates are all aligned to national learning standards for ease of use in classrooms across the country.
The Ag Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit affiliate of the American Farm Bureau Federation.
The Purple Plow Challenge
In 2017 the Ag Foundation is inviting educators and students grades 5-8 to participate in a STEM maker space challenge, H2Grow. This challenge asks students to get creative as they design a sustainable living environment for aquatic life while growing food. Student teams that submit an entry form outlining their project could win a 3D printer and a Visa gift card. The Purple Plow website offers a free facilitator and student guide to make the project simple. This special project was made possible through generous support of our title sponsor, DuPont Pioneer. Contest entries due May 1, 2017 http://www.purpleplowchallenge.org/h2grow-challenge/
